Catalan A1: Articles & gender · Words

Masculine nouns take el (plural els), feminine nouns take la (plural les). Before a vowel or h both become l’ (l’home, l’escola), except la before an unstressed i or u: la universitat. “A” or “an” is un / una.

• l' arbre — tree

• On és la porta? — Where is the door?
• Aquest és el meu llibre. — This is my book.
• Tinc un gos. — I have a dog.
• La casa és bonica. — The house is pretty.
