German A1: Hello & sein · Grammar

sein (to be) is irregular: ich bin, du bist, er/sie/es ist, wir sind, ihr seid, sie/Sie sind. Use du with friends and Sie (always capitalised) with strangers.

• nein — no

• die Frau — woman
• das Kind — child

• Wie geht es dir? — How are you?
• Mir geht es gut. — I’m fine.
• Ich heiße Anna. — My name is Anna.
