Tras verbos y expresiones de exigencia o recomendación (suggest, insist, recommend, demand, it is essential that), el inglés formal usa el subjuntivo: la forma base del verbo, sin -s ni will, para todas las personas: I suggest he be told; It is vital that she arrive on time. La negación es not + verbo: We insist that he not leave. En inglés británico corriente también vale should: I suggest he should be told. Quedan restos en frases hechas: God save the King, be that as it may, so be it, come what may.
