Spanish B1: Giving instructions: the imperative · Grammar

tú: the él form of the present (Habla, Come), with eight irregulars: di, haz, ve, pon, sal, sé, ten, ven. usted and all negatives use the subjunctive: Hable, No hables, No comáis. vosotros: the infinitive with -d (Hablad, Venid). Pronouns join the end of a positive command (Dímelo, Siéntese) and go before a negative one (No me lo digas).

• cruzar — to cross
• todo recto — straight on
• tener cuidado — to be careful
• darse prisa — to hurry
• olvidar — to forget
• esperar — to wait
• dejar — to leave, to let

• Siga todo recto y gire a la izquierda. — Go straight on and turn left.
• ¡Ten cuidado! — Be careful!
• Espérame aquí. — Wait for me here.
• ¡No te olvides! — Don’t forget!
