French C2: French around the world: Belgium, Switzerland, Quebec · Words
French changes beyond France. Belgium and Switzerland count septante (70) and nonante (90); Switzerland also says huitante (80). There, as in Quebec, people take le déjeuner in the morning, le dîner at noon and le souper in the evening. Quebec says char (car), magasiner (to go shopping), blonde (girlfriend), courriel (email) and tiguidou (great); in Belgium, une fois softens a request: Viens une fois!
