French A1: -er verbs · Phrases

Verbs in -er drop -er and add -e, -es, -e, -ons, -ez, -ent: je parle, tu parles, il parle, nous parlons, vous parlez, ils parlent. Only -ons and -ez are heard; the other endings sound the same. Before a vowel, je becomes j’: j’habite.

• habiter — to live
• travailler — to work

• aimer — to like, to love
• aujourd’hui — today
• demain — tomorrow
• toujours — always

• Je parle un peu français. — I speak a little French.
• Où habites-tu? — Where do you live?
• Aujourd’hui, je travaille à la maison. — Today I’m working from home.
• J’aime beaucoup le fromage. — I really like cheese.
