Official letters and forms use their own Italian. il sottoscritto (the undersigned) writes in the third person; suddetto and summenzionato point back (the aforementioned); pertanto and quindi conclude; nonché means “as well as”; codesto points to the reader’s office (codesto ufficio). Verbs come in the present participle (il richiedente, the applicant) and the passive with si: si comunica che…
