Indefinite words take the congiuntivo: chiunque (whoever), qualunque or qualsiasi (whatever), comunque (however), dovunque (wherever): Chiunque sia, non aprire. Hypotheses with qualora, nel caso che, a patto che, ammesso che also take it: Qualora fosse necessario, La contatteremo. come se (as if) takes the imperfect subjunctive: Parla come se sapesse tutto.
