Latin B2: In order to: ut & ne with the subjunctive · Words

Purpose clauses and indirect commands take ut (so that, to) or ne (so that not, not to) with the subjunctive. The present subjunctive changes the vowel: amem, moneam, regam, audiam; the imperfect adds the endings to the infinitive: amarem, monerem, regerem. After a present main verb use the present (Venio ut te videam); after a past one, the imperfect (Venit ut me videret).
