Portuguese B2: The passive & se · Grammar

The passive uses ser + past participle, which agrees with the subject: A ponte foi construída em 1966. The doer comes with por (pelo, pela). Everyday Portuguese often uses se instead: Vendem-se casas; Aqui fala-se português. The verb agrees with the thing: vende-se a casa, vendem-se as casas.

• O museu foi inaugurado em 2010. — The museum was opened in 2010.
